Originally from Durban and now based in Johannesburg, Richelieu has spent more than a decade building a reputation as one of the country’s most versatile entertainers, performing everywhere from packed comedy clubs and national tours to corporate stages and television productions.
Richelieu made South African comedy history when he became the first-ever Comedy Central Roast Battle Champion of South Africa, earning national
recognition for his sharp improvisation, fearless humour, and ability to command a room under pressure. His victory established him as one of the
standout performers in the country’s modern comedy scene.
His career includes multiple Comedy Central appearances and specials, two one-man shows, national comedy tours, and performances alongside some of South Africa’s most recognised comedy talent. He has also become known as one of the country’s strongest live hosts and MCs, leading shows across major comedy venues and entertainment platforms nationwide.
Off stage, Richelieu is an accomplished writer and creative contributor. He was part of the writing team and cast of the popular South African sketch
show Bantu Hour on SABC2, contributed writing to Larger Than Life on SABC3, and served as a writer supporting Comedy Roast Battle productions.
